Import your Letterboxd diary to KARE
Your diary, with its dates, ratings, rewatches, tags and reviews — plus your lists, likes and watchlist — in about a minute. Bring your history home; it all starts with the kare.

Export your data from Letterboxd
On letterboxd.com, open Settings, then the Data tab, and choose Export your data. Letterboxd prepares a ZIP file and downloads it.

Open KARE's importer
Sign in to KARE and open Settings → Import (thekare.app/settings/?tab=import).

Drop the ZIP in
Drop the whole ZIP (no need to unzip it) onto the importer. The files are read in your browser; only each film's title, year and IMDb id are sent to KARE to find it.

Check the matches
KARE shows how many titles it found, which ones need a check and which it couldn't find. Pick the right film from the suggestions, search again, or skip it.

Choose what comes over
Pick the parts to import — diary, ratings, reviews, likes, watchlist, lists — and whether new lists are public. Then import.

- Diary entries with watched dates, ratings, rewatches and tags
- Reviews (the latest one per film)
- Films marked watched without a date
- Ratings and liked films
- Watchlist
- Lists, in order, with notes and descriptions
- Profile details and your four favourites
What stays behind
- Comments, and likes on other people's reviews and lists
- Entries you deleted on Letterboxd
Importing the same export again only adds what's new and never overwrites what you've changed on KARE.
